I finally got rid of my cherub angel. Somehow I caught it with a brine shrimp net. Amy ways I swaped him for a half black half orange clown. Orange face. Im hoping he will pair with my orange occ clown. They have been twitching and chasimg alot. What is going on? I am a little concerned because the are exactly the same size. What do you guys think? Sorry for the typos im on my phone...

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Perfectly normal behavior for clown regardless of age or time together.

One clown needs to show submission. If one clown does not submit you can assume you have 2 females and aggression will set in.

When newly introduced to each other though that is perfectly normal behavior..

By pair do you mean hanging out together? If so immediately.
If you mean spawing, the female has to be around 2 years of age and conditions right.
If you mean when will one become the dominate female and one the dominate male a couple months.

Is it that big of a deal that they are both the same size? The orange one was alone with another type of fish for about a month.

No, if they are getting along that is really all that matters, over time one will become dominate (the female of course) and the male will show submission by shaking (again of course).

Should the submissive clown not react appropriately the dominate female will become aggressive and reject him. This does not happen often but it does.
