Are Refugiums Loud?

Right now I have a Fluval 305 as the filter in my tank and that things is silent enought that I have to check the output is actually putting out water. Now, my reason for needing a quiet filter is simple. My tank is right at the end of my bed. Will the skimmer, return pump, and refugium be quiet?

 

its not the fuge that would be the loud part its going to be your return pump and skimmer and it all depends on which ones you pick.

 

the loudest part of my system is the outflow from my skimmer, and thats no louder than one of those desktop waterfall fountains.... great white noise for sleeping

 

you'd get used to it pretty easy , ive got a 55 outside my door and it makes a splashing noise , took a bit to get used to it. but now ive got it for sale and im not sure how i'm going to do without its noise now >,<

 

does anyone have any suggestions on equiptment that would be quiet

 

The loudest thing will be the movement of fast water and the skimmer. your return lines sometimes make a bit of noise. The skimmer usually makes noise also. My skimmer makes noise and my 220 is in the bedroom. We cant sleep with it off now as you get used to the noise. You will have noise to the tank so if you think it will be silent it can be..... If the filteration and skimmer are in the other room.

 

i have a few loud ones, in line pumps are much louder than there submersible counterparts...
