White LED = 12k kelvin rating
Blue LED = wavelength of 460 Nano meters
Looking into making a custom DIY LED for my hood...would like some input on these specs.
    Thanx..8)

There is a lot more into it than just kelvin and wavelength.

    Size tank?
    Size heatsinks?
What kind of coral do you wanna keep?
    How many LEDs?
    How many watts per led?

The colors are good, but that's not enough info.

    right..kinda vague with that wasn't I .. : /

    90 gallon
    Heat sink 46"x4" approx.
Corals..same as now...softies and some sps.
    48 bulbs / 24 blue 24 white
    3 watt per bulb.
    90 degree reflectors.
I'm thinking of keeping 4 of the blue T5's (2 in front 2 in rear) and pulling the 2 whites from the middle and retrofitting this 46 by 4 heat sink into the hood....they will have dimmers independent to each color....still in my head, nothing on the check book yet : )

Sounds about right actually. I would probably opt for 80* optics instead of the 90's just for a little bit better penetration on a 24" deep tank. Colors seem right though. You could add a few WW in the mix for good measure if you like, as the Royal Blues are best complimented by Warm Whites. If it is all going into a hood, just be sure you have something to adequately vent the heatsink. I think the T5s will probably be a nice addition, to help bring out the missing spectrum.

Your gonna need ~4 drivers (I am assuming you know this based on your research) but that would allow you to run the colors independent. And you'll need some type of controller, be that the RapidLED controller, manual pots, or even the BoostLED controller.

Everything seems good though. Good luck!
