I was just trying to make you laugh a bit, it sucks when you work so hard and are so excited about a coral, fish, etc. and it dies.

I would not beat myself up about it happens. I have suggested to anyone who would listen that anemones are cool and fun neat great critters to keep if thats what one want. And what My experience in the hobby has taught me they should only be kept in a species specific only system totally set up for them.
They require very special requirements from lighting to water movement and power heads and all that are used for fish and corals will never do. I'd never have a power head in a anemone tank.. You have to use a drilled tank with a good overflow then make sure the grates in the overflow are small enough that they can't get through then a major return pump with a over sized return pipe to allow for as much water volume as you can supply . That way all the anemone puree can be avoided.
But its a learning curve and I cringe when I see people trying to keep anemones in a fish/coral reef type set up I know whats going to happen especially with a roaming type species of an anemone. Some roam all the time some never move . Again it happens and you are not the first and I'd not loose sleep over it.. Just use it and learn and pas on your experience when you see other talking about this..Pay it forward :) Sorry for your loss .. :(

That really sucks!!! I have had that happen a few times, with a Carpet, and pacific Long tips!!!! My present anemone had gotten sucked up in a powerhead a couple times about 6 months ago...Since that time I have found a way to beat that. By keeping my powerhead high in my 30 hex tank, it enables me to not have to worry about that problem as much any more and it gives my anemone a better chance to live happily.
I don't know if you heard my story in a post a few months or so ago, but like I said my anemone got sucked up in the powerhead which was about 6" up from my substrate. The second time it happened, I shut off my powerhead, hopeing that the anemone would come out from the intake pipe by itself. It did but was pretty mangled up. For awhileit would remain shrunken in size and some of the color was gone as well as some tentacles. I'm sure it was very traumatic and stressful for my anemone!!!!!!!!
Through time and proper care by me, and alot of credit to my anemone in it's resiliency to be able to survive something like that, my anemone has since grown bigger, shows no signs of the accident and hosts a Percula Clown now as well. My anemone is very happy now as I can tell because it has remained in the same place for months now thriving and cheating death twice over!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just a happy success story> Sorry to hear about your BTA!! No one like to see something like that happen especially if it is possibly preventable, however, don't take it so hard as it isn't your fault. You were creating a proper reef environment for the success of your live stock, and your anemone just happpened to move and unfortunately pay a dear price.
If you like anemones as much as I do, I wouldn't let that incident alter your decision of trying another one...just try repositioning your powerhead(s).
Best of luck with your tank!
