Well it happened...last night my doser decided that my Alk was a little low, and proceeded to be proactive about it by dumping Alk instead of walking upstairs to get me. I awoke this morning to my BRS 1 gallon Alk bottle down to about 1/5 left (had a little over half before last night). My Hanna Meter says '300' (blinking) meaning that is as high as it will go. That works out to 16.8 dKh. I had about 15 gallons of fresh SW, and did what I could this morning before going to work.

I finished up around 1:00 and came home, expecting all my SPS colonies and frags to have kicked it. Instead, I get home and everything looks fine. I have full PE, and my LPS look better than before. I Vodka dose, so I keep my Alk around 9 dKh. After the 15 gallon WC, it read 15.6 dKh. My pH is reading 8.61. Corals are fine. Fish are swimming, eating. I am happy, yet confused and scared. Is this going to be a delayed crash?

Forgot to mention, no precipitate. Calcium levels still reading 480ish and Mag around 1400. I am aerating 25 gallons of fresh SW now, and will do another change tonight. My salt mixes out to around 8 dKh so it should drop it pretty good. I'm thinking of doing 2 changes, one tonight and one in the morning. My doser has been unplugged and tube taken out of the probe holder. I don't really know.

Anyone with similar experience on Alk overdosing...feel free to chime in. If things start to go south by tomorrow, I will have a lot of prized corals for sale. ;D

you will be fine, because it happen over hours not all at once. just do another water change and allow it to come down on it own. if you have any invertebrates you may have a stress molt or two coming your way. but all will be well :)

I think you will be fine. If you are seeing sliming by your SPS then an emergency WC is in order. If everyone looks good the next WC should get you in line.
