I have a ASM skimmer and I need to put some type of drain fitting on the side of the cup which is round so that it can drain down to a gallon jug. If anyone has done this please tell me what you did. Thanks

There are a lot of mods just like this here in the skimmer section.
Search, and you'll find them. Basically you just drill a hole in the side or bottom of the cup and attach an airline hose fitting to it to use as a drain to an overflow jug.

I simple drill them as Bogie mentioned and tap threads inti it then install a MIPxbarbed adapter have to be careful when drill them as they will crack .If the bit locks up in the acrylic be careful and oil the bit first . I always dip the entire bit in to a heavy motor oil to allow it to dribble down the bit to keep it slick and cool acrylic gets grabby when it warms up from drilling.

There are drill bits dedicated to drilling plastic like acrylic. They can also help lower risk of cracking. If ya wanna be super careful. But if you proceed slowly and carefully as Tangster said, should be a no-brainer.
