I need to get a skimmer for my tank and I was looking at the Octopus Extreme line of skimmers. I've also heard good things about the ASM skimmers as well. I'm just wondering what the pros and cons are of each?

    Thanks,

    Josh

Bump - I cant comment on the differences or advanatages between the 2 models

I would say, if you had both and didnt want one, Id be well pleased with the one you didnt want LOL

Both seem like good choices to me.

Id go octo i think they are rated for less gallons then they can actually handle. I have an octo extreme and ill never go back to any other skimmer

Similar skimmers. In fact, the designers for both are brothers.
The ASM is a little bit simpler, and will give you more bang for your buck. The octopus skimmers will be a little more high end, and have all the trendy bells and whistles.
One disadvantage to the octopus, is it's footprint is going to be much larger than comparable skimmers.
I have owned both. Both are great skimmers, so whichever you choose, you will be happy. But, if I had to pick one over the other, I would give the nod to ASM. Saves you a little room under the stand, and will leave you with a little more in the wallet ;)

If your patient Reef Octo has a promising looking line coming out. The Super Reef line with the bubble blaster pumps. Some people that have their hands on a couple of em are saying wonderful things bout em (people on RC). Im waiting for my XP-2000 to come in.
