We'll I've been thinking of adding a new addition to my sump, the algae turf scrubber...
I'm very much impressed by this addition and seems like this will be a success In giving my reef less algae blooms and cyano issues...

If anyone Is running these types of addition to thier closed system please give me some feed back On this exciting peice of filtration to your reef...

From what it looks like you only need to run one of these!? I have been thinking of starting a sump with one of these too.

Hit the search there are plenty of threads on them, and the build is actually quite simple. I run one, ran me about $20 I think. Opinions on them come and go from one side to the other. I would say they are a good piece of kit and should not be considered a end all be all method of filtration. I run one in addition to a skimmer.

It's an extremely effective method--I ran one on a 55 and it cleared up my cyano in 3 weeks or so. The harvesting was a bit of a PIA but so is cleaning the skimmer imo. I took off the skimmer after a couple months and everything looked good. It helped keep my PH up at nite too. Check out SantaMonica, a reefer from LA area who's perfected it.
