Just got back from my camping trip and I thought I would share some pics. Went into the Blue Lakes Basin out in Eldorado Forest, and it was awesome. We were at about 9,000 feet, just below the end of the tree line. Some of the peaks still had snow. It was absolutely gorgeous, and a great relief from the nearly unbearable heat we have had all month long! Highs were in the low 70's and lows in the low to mid 40's. Perfect I say. I am going to try everything possible to get up there one more time before the season ends, hopefully for 4 days instead of just 2.

Oh there's a fishing pole leaning against that table ;) I only fished yesterday, since we came up on Friday and left today. Lost one, had another good bite, but pretty much got skunked. A group camping by us had much better luck on the lower lake (the basin is two small lakes very close to each other), as all three of them limited. But I never went down there. Pretty much just trout, and I am not really big on trout fishing anyways. But lots of fun regardless!

Nice. I'm heading up to the tallest (not highest) mountain on this side of the mississippi this weekend. I think it's the third highest peak in the east? I'm not sure. Elevation of 6,593. (Mt. Leconte for those interested) Anyways I'm going Thursday through Sunday. I can't wait :) I was up there a few weeks ago and the temps were low fifties mid seventies. It was like going into another world, leaving this heat behind.

Glad you had fun! People need to head out camping more often.

Haha! Heck we live at about 5000. We need at least 8000 to feel like we are "up in the mountains" ;)
Some of the peaks we had around the area were around 10-12,000. You know that people actuall get joy outta walking/climbing those things? To heck with that. WAY too much work. Thats why I like camping. Vacation is all about as LITTLE work as possible.
