Background lights

    When I turn off aquarium lights does it matter if my kitchen light ect is on or tv ???

    Not really. But you say that you turn off the lights, it would be a good idea to get the lights on a timer so the length of light on the aquarium can be regulated.
    You can even have one light, preferably the actinic, come on an hour earlier and go off an hour later then the other light to somewhat simulate a dusk/dawn senario

    Yea I do . My reg hop light goes off and the actinic stays on an hour longer then shuts off. I'm assuming it doesn't matter when they come on and off I start them at 12 pm so I can enjoy it until 9 pm

    The exact time is not important. Just have them on for about 8-10 hours per day.

    Agreed. My schedule runs similar, just that I have t5s and LEDs in the mix.

    I only have par30s over my 10g right now. I'd like to add some actinincs/moonlighting, but am worried about ruining the rimless look (see my avatar). I may have to invest in some Ecoxotic EcoPico LED strips to run along the front or back of the tank...not sure what colors to pick.

    you can put a small stripe of LED between your two par30 for moonlight?
