how do i look in the fish to make sure what i have?
all i can see in him is his skin peeling off ( the skin thing is about the size of 2 peny maybe a bit bigger).., his poop is a white string, and they both stay at the top corner of my tank most of the time unless someone aproaches it then they hide on a rock. and it all started with ich ( or at least it looked like ich at the beginning)

will melafix work for anytype? or are there many melafix outhere too?..
i need something that would work on a reef tank.. ( but if i have too i can get something for a QT tank)

Not sure how to id. I haven't used melafix, but from what the manufacture says it is reef safe and wont harm your bio filter. As for which Maracyn to use, It seems the plus and the oxy have a broad spectrum antibiotic. Should be effective against both types of bacteria, just may not work as fast. As for reef safe I think the problem is it also kills your bio filter (which is bacteria) so you risk a cycle if treating in the main tank. Really should treat in a hospital tank. Again I'm no expert on this, just from what info I have found.

Isn't a bacterial infection generally secondary?

Yes in most cases. It gets in from a wound, this can be caused by a parasite like ick, or something a simple as a cut or scratch.

well mine seemed to have ich at the beginning.. but it has been barely a week. Would a bacterial infection happen that fast?
there wasnt any injuries on the fish previously.
pretty much placed the fish on monday, the ich appeared on wednesday..
the patch appeared on friday or saturday and its been like that till today.

That was my point. It's more likely Brooklynella, since it showed those symptoms first. The longer you wait, the more complications can arise. Putting fish directly into the DT complicates things from the get go. At least get them out of the DT and into another tank.
