    ok so about two weeks ago i got a blue hippo tang that my lfs had for about a month that look beautiful... she got ick on the 3rd day n past on the forth. to and worse to wear my tank has now lost all my fish but one blue damsel. 7 fish in total. my groby is mia haven't seen him in about 3 days.. the last fish i lost was my coral beauty.. the question i have is does ick actually eat at the fish??? when i took out the beauty almost all his fins were alomost complety gone and i saw them getting smaller as the days went.. sorry so long and have told my wife no fish till after x-mas.. does suck tho... little blue looks lonely in a 125gal....:-[

    It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    The parasite Cryptocaryons primarily destroys the gills. The fish becomes so compromised (immunity is shot) that secondary bacterial infections set in. If tissue like fins are not being oxygenated secondary to gill damage that tissue dies.

    Your tank will continue to be infected with ick until you either go fish less for 8+ weeks, or strip out the inverts, coral and live rock and drop the salinity to 1.008 a .009 for at least 4 weeks after the last ick was seen.
    With 1 fish left, I would be very tempted to set up a hospital tank and trf the fish into and leave the 125 fallow for at least 8 weeks.

    Sorry for your loss, ick is a terrible storm to weather, what did you do to try ad save the tank ?
