I would think he would have a better chance in an 83 gallon.

i have had mine for about 20 months. However as far as i can tell, it has not grown any in all that time. it has survived SO FAR but definitely has not flourished.

    I was correct :(
That LFS will not take anything at all.
    Now what?
Could I just leave him in the system and see how he does or would I be better off taking him out so he does not deteriorate in the tank?

i would try to save it. you might try sticking small pieces of fish or shrimp in the sand near it to see if it will eat. keep an eye on the situation and remove any uneaten food.

It can't hurt to try to save it, but it's not very likely to happen. It's probably eaten just about everything that is suitable in your tank (and there probably wasn't very much suitable food to start with). I've never heard of one recovering after it started to deteriorate, but who knows...

    Good luck,

    Don

I am going to buy some table shrimp tomorrow to try to save it. Maybe a miracle will happen........? I will remove any uneaten food.
Thanks for all of the help!

I don't know much about these guys, but what if you added some pods to your tank in the mean time to see if that helps. I figure if they sift the sand for food, then this might help as a temporary fix.
