Wondering if you can run a 20 in lamp off a ballast for a longer bulb like a 36 or 48in. I have a ballast but its for one or two longer t5 lamps. So can a ballast be run on a smaller lamp??

Yes that will work .. May over drive the bulbs a bit but with fluorescents tubes it matters little

On a side note, if it does over drive the bulb, you may need to replace them sooner because they will wear out quicker then a normally operated bulb.
