I agree with you 100%. Not only is having a barracuda grossly irresponsible, but just plain stupid. Any diver can and will tell you that these are highly territorial, predatory fish and need a gigantic area to patrol. They fear nothing, not even people. I once even saw one fight with a 200 lb grouper over a fish.

Are they reef safe? Well, they won't eat your corals, but they will consume every single fish, shrimp, and crab within a day.

So I guess if you have a couple of thousand gallon tank devoid of other fish, or shrimp, or crabs, buy a barracuda. But why?

maybe there mexican baricuda there much smaller only get like 3 feet at max i think and they school in the hundreds. I was diving in Baja and all the sudden all the sunlight went away looked up and there was a massive school of them. very cool to see but 3 feet is still huge maybe its another smaller subspecies

+1 i think its illegal to sell Greater barricuda, anyways. there are certain subspecies that grow to 1-3 feet (mexican bar. for example). ive seen them sold online but with different scientific names. i still think its irresponsible either way though
