I am new to marine tanks, but I have a 90 gallon with Africans. I bought a used 125 gallon with 2-36" Coralife lights with 1-10,000K and 1-Dual Actinic bulb in each. It also came with a Pro Clear Aquatic wet/dry filter with dual outlet overflow and a Model 7 utility pump for return. A D&D Marine Typhoon protein skimmer was included and is driven by a Quiet 1 1200 pump. The tank contains a Zoo PS-20 powerhead, 300W titanium heater, Aqua Medic 18 W UV light, approx 100 pounds of live rock, and a 20 gallon tank for premixing water.
I am not planning on starting the tank for a month or two, but I am reading as much as I can about the subject. I was planning on cycling the tank with two blue damsels, then once completed add a Yellow Tang, possible a pair of clowns, a couple of other peaceful fish. I would also like to someday get some hermits, snails, starfish, anenomes, and possibly some soft corals that will survive with my lighting.

    Is a refugium necessary?
Should you combine it with a wet/dry or only a fuge?
It is possible to keep things other than fish with my lighting?
Any other info is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

You will be able to host some corals with that lighting but not much nor the real nice ones. I see you up-grading the lights in the near future. As for the wet/dry and refugiums, It really depends on your budget and your understanding on how to put these filter together. Yon can have a wet/dry by it self, or you can combine it with a refugium. Its really up to you, its a personal preference.

those lights would go good with metal halides on that tank, that way you can have any coral. if the lights are 2-96w each, then all four could be 03 actinic with 3-250w metal halides added.

any combination of filtration will work, my tank has a wet/dry and refugium. could use either but both added together produce better results.
