best hob skimmer

I picked up two corallife skimmers. There awesome

 

I have been running the same AquaC Remora HOB skimmer for over five years. Super easy to install and all you have to adjust is the skimmer cup, no water level bs. I just have mine hung on the back of my skimmer under my DT. Not fancy by any means, but a great price and reliable. Hope this helps.

 

I have a reef octo bh1000 for sale right now,used only four months,clean and in original box $100.

 

I really like Eshopps HOB skimmers. I have a 75H on my 28 nano and 100H on my 46BF. I did not have any luck with a Coralife 65, so I can not recommend those.

 

Just don't go with a Eshopps, reminds me of a Coral Life product.

??? Have you actually owned one? I have 2, one on a 46BF and one on a 28 nano, and I can tell you they are nothing like Coralife Super Skimmers. I actually replaced a Coralife with an Eshopps after I was fed up with it. Eshopps work very well IMO. They are not silent, but still more quiet than Coralife.

 

I have honestly used all of these skimmers

The AquaC Remora is the best HANDS DOWN !!! the sludge that comes out of these is insane !!

The Reef Octopus is great, but I have run tests with it compared to the Coralife Superskimmer 65 and they both pull THE SAME exact type of waste and the same speed really. Reed Octopus just looks way nicer and the pump is a bit more discrete

ALL THESE skimmers could maintain semi-heavy bioloads with under 10ppm nitrate even with over feeding BUT you should go with the Superskimmer if money is tight because it is on sale at MD.com right now

 

I bought the coral life super skimmer 125 for my 55 gallon and the 65 for my 36 bowfront. They remove so much stuff out of the water its awesome. My nitrates are never over 5 ppm and I'm probably an overfeeder. Lol
