I currently have 2 different Test Kits from API for Nitrate. I tested today with both, and registered 20ppm with one, and 0ppm with the other. Rinse and repeat...same results. So now I need a tie breaker.

If your LFS uses API, then test it there. Then throw away whichever kit of yours has the bad reagents.

My LFS uses strips, and tells me they are "very accurate."

I like and use salifert but its probably hanna's photometer.

I voted salifert because the other is probably not a option for you.

I use the Red Sea test kits for Ammonia,Nitrite, and nitrates. But, I agree with above posts, Salifert is superior IMHO and I do use Salifert for Cal, Alk, and Mag.
