I know with FW you could add some starter bacteria to get the cycle going...(substitute for LR)...does dr Tim's have nitrifying bacteria you could dose?

haha thanks guys, its still going to be a while before anything else is added to the tank

next is getting the protien skimmer, IDK which one to get yet, so any input would be nice, it wont be a SPS tank, itll be mostly acans and LPS and stuff like that, no zoas, or mushrooms untill my opinion on those change. and im still debating on internal or external.

internal pros: no need to buy a pump with it, most people have this kind so finding help with it should be easier

internal cons: my sump is only so big, so im restriced in size, would have to invest in an ATO alot sooner than expected

external pros: theres more leeway in water levels in your sump, frees up the sump space for a possible refugium, not restricted in footprint size.

external cons: might have to buy a pump if it doesnt come with one, if it develops a leak its in the stand and not in the sump.

my budget for a skimmer is 350 + shipping.

after that, im going to buy my lights (if i get tehm from marinedepot.com then they will be two seperate orders, just so i can get two free shirts haha!)

the lights will either be one radion, or two ATI sol blues. since they both cost teh same, idk what im gonna end up doing.

radion pros : its talk to my computer and my mp 40, and its a radion, nuff said.
radion cons : could only get one unit, and one is for a 24x24, and my tank is 30x30

ATI sol blue pros: more affordable, similar sleek design as radions, still no joke when it comes to lights
ATI sol blue cons : no comp interface, no RGB functionality, doesnt talk to my powerheads, their costomer service reviews dont quite add up to that of Ecotechs.

please give me your input, and reasons why, i could really use some help! thanks for following along guys :)

    ATI for the T5, IMO
as for the skimmer..I have had a little HOB cpr skimmer on my sump handling my 90 gallon(couple years)...but I'm upgrading when I get my new sump in...and that will be to an in sump skimmer..but I'm pretty sure you need a pump either way internal or HOB skimmer.
They have many options for your price range...new and used...for that kind of money you could pick up a real jewel....matter of fact 3Reef here has a sponsor that is selling some demo models that were used at the show...might check into that..looks like those are some real nice equipment.
