Would it be a bad idea to put bio balls in the bottom of a skimmer?

In the bottom of a skimmer?
I dont want bioballs anywhere near my system.. much less in the bottom of a skimmer.
A skimmers purpose is to take stuff out of the water, bio balls purpose is to trap stuff in the water.

Also bioballs are meant to be locked in. They trap debris in the side of them the water flows through. If they are flowing loose it could trap debris, then release it. Ehh no mater what its not a good idea. I dont like bioballs at all, much less getting creative with them.

Will quote my motto again "the less points of failure, the more likely you are to succeed"
Bioballs and canister filters are IMO the two biggest points of failure if not cleaned and maintained properly. Why maintain them and clean them every week or more if you can have a much safer stable system without them.

Whats not good about bio balls then? I dont think having them in the skimmer would cause the skimmer to take out any less organic matter
