Does anybody have a tank that is near a bird? My scarlet macaw loves the new tank. Likes to sit in front of the tank and watch for hours. All the while going OHHHHHHHHHHH, AHHHHHHHHHH. Every once in a while I will see one of her small down feathers drifting along. By small I mean 1/16 inch. It is rare but we have seen them. So far no problems but I thought I would check.

I've never heard of anything bad about that, I dont think it would be a problem. My concern would be what comes out of the bottom end landing inside the tank.;D

I keep my a parrot and a conure 5 feet away. No problems here for over a year, unless your bird likes to eat your hood (stupid bird).

If you have an overflow, your pods will eat what ever comes their way.

the down feathers are so light that they wont penetrate the surface tension so your overflow will catch it all pretty quickly

My little green cheeked conure used to swim in my cichlid tank. :S the fish used to come up and just stare at him obviously thinking WTF?! there's a bird swimming in our tank. That never used to do my tank any harm. The cheeky bugger even did a poo in the tank once. My cichlids thought it was food and proceeded to eat it. :S Once again no problems.
Mind you, one of your scarlet macaws droppings would be about the size of my actual green cheek conure. haha.
Fish and birds work fine together. Maybe ill get a duck for my next tank. hehe :D
