Hi all, name is Ken...I'm impressed with the size and participation on this site...I went ahead and got my feet wet and posted a long winded series of questions in the newbie section...

I got my 1st salt tank in 1975 and started with reefs in the mid 80's just as they were getting traction...

Actually raised a trio of Morish Idols before they stopped importing them (more or less) and I've had several nice reef tanks in the 90's ...I'd say I'm pretty decent handling a reef tank but could use some serious updating so I welcome the role of the student here...

I'm about to fire up a 9G after a 12 yr hiatus so I'd love to chew the fat with fellow hobbyist and hopefully learn a thing or two....

    Again,. Hello!!

Ditto, seems members here are simply eager to offer thier advice experience....and I couldn't find any evidence of "techie wolfpacks" attacking any old timers or social deviants who question the latest hight tech gadgetry either ha!
(I've been "online" since Commodore 64's and 300 baud modems) ;D

welcome! In your post above, you say 9g... but did you mean 90 gallon? I can't imagine pico tanks were in vogue 12 years ago... ;)

LOL. People who thrill on strife find us boring and move on. People who just want to have a good time, learn, and share tend to hang around. BTW, this makes it a LOT easier for the mods. The members tend to self-moderate their behavior which is why we are able to manage a site this large with just a handful of mods. If someone misbehaves, they hit that "report this post to a mod" button instantly and the issue is addressed. Things are gone before most of the membership even knew it was there. That's not to say we don't have "spirited" debates. However, those debates go over better when you treat the other member with respect.

Your Commodore 64 remark made me laugh. You'll find that 3Reef is a little easier than the Usenet groups of alt.aquaria or rec.aquaria, etc. :) Heck. Most of the people on this forum have probably never even heard of Usenet.
