Those ice cube makers that make tall skinny ice cubes for people who drink bottled water work excellent for those of you who make their own blender mush. After you freeze, you pop off the bottom and then just push out the blender mush long ice cubes.

Great Idea, You could also break them in half if you are feeding a smaller tank :_)

Very cool! Thanks Curt. I was gonna try my own "blender mush" as you call it next time I need food.

What do you put in your mix?

This particular mix was for the predator tank. It had squid, pollack, crab, mussels, shrimp (with shells left on to grind the puffers teeth), krill. For the predators I like bigger pieces so I don't blend....I use the "pulse" feature on the blender. After all of this was done, I added full size freeze dried krill that had soaked up Vitamins and HUFAs.

When making blender mush for reef tanks, a lot of it will be similar but grinded down smaller. I also add enriched brine, mysis shrimp, etc. I will add Nori, blanched broccoli, carrots, etc for the herbivores. I also like to add coral food so it will also include Golden Pearls, Oyster Eggs, rotifers, fish roe, reef chili. Obviously, everything is soaked in a vitamin/HUFA mix.

Well, I have to give Schackmel the credit. I was trying to figure out a way to make molds out of eggcrate that would work well for the predator tank. I told her what I really needed and she said, try those bottled water ice cube makers. I didn't even know these existed.

Cool idea to freeze a larger batch.
I've been using the blister pack that the frozen fish food comes in, just peel off the metal(a big pain) and wash, reuse then pop the frozen cube out into your freezer container, but I like this idea better.

    Thanks for sharing.
