im no expert on them but i did do some reading and cant find any reason why you cant keep one. they get a reputation of being one of the more peaceful dottybacks.

I have a peaceful pseudo and he's an awesome fish. A lot of fun to watch, and loves to explore and swim through my rocks. I would imagine the one you're looking at would act the same.

Go for it! And post pics! :)

I would be leery of a sunrise dottyback.

From what I have read, they are one of the meaner dottybacks.

Then again, I have an indigo dottyback ( ORA bred sankeyii crossed with a fridmani) that are bred that way to be a nice fish, and mine is a bastard.

I had to give my flavivertex away because he started to pick on my hog and basslet. I dont know how they do with inverts though. I really miss my guy he was amazing to watch swim in the rocks.

I've had them and they tend to be aggressive to shrimp and similarly shaped smaller fish. I loved that fish though.

Buy a cheap specimen container and put your fish in there and see if he wants to go after your shrimp. That's how we did it at the store. Some fish want to break out and go kill the shrimp and some fish could care less.
