dude! we all have experience with this stuff, some random ass guy could have just written this **** on google! what it all comes down to is common sense. they are called saltwater fish for a reason and that reason just in case you didnt know is because they live in saltwater. putting it in freshwater in turn will make it die! its like putting a goldfish in a saltwater tank. its gills are probably shot to hell. as a tip, never use google as the only means of research.

so your assuming you had a sick fish- why then did you buy it?

Seriously, that technique is wrong, it is not necessary, set yourself up a QT - if this is such a concern for you.

Wow. I'm pretty disappointed at the lack of respect here. I'm not some idiot who went with the first thing I read. I read this in many places and by people just like yourselves who have been in this hobby for a long time with established aquariums. You all have all the right to disagree or recommend something different but your criticism, judging and belittling is ridiculous. I'm very sorry that my reading has offended you all. But in all honesty, I haven't suggested that what I've read is more factual than any of your advice. I was simply showing you what I've read. I'm not deserving of your condescension. I truly hope, if any of you are parents, you treat your kids better when they have a question.

I mean no offense, but you asked the questions, and I see a few posts have been removed because this is a family friendly website, but in all honestly, what was your point /intent if you have read so much into this Hobie already- NOT a single person I know of acclimates critters as you do- it is dangerous to the critters health, it is crewel, it is simply wrong- what you have read is wrong, and usually I do not use the word "wrong" but in this case you are simply wrong. IMHO, I would not sell you fish or critters, because you have not taken the time to learn what you need to know, which in turn will alleviate many of your questions and doubts. But of this I can do nothing- but simply try to help you with tried and true knowledge from 12 years of reef keeping.

None of us will ever know all, but of your methods of acclimation, I am sure that method is the wrong way to do things.

I wish you well, and I will pray hope for the BT you have- other then this- I cannot help you- for you will not believe what you read given the experience offered here to you at this time.

To answer your original question, blue tangs lay on their side when stressed or sometimes to sleep. So this can be normal when first introduced to a new tank. Mine did this the first day in quarantine and now 3 years later is still going strong.

Considering the O/Ps' initial post- it is impossible to match FW Ph and SW Ph- impossible.

Personally, i have never tried to acclimate this way so i wont even comment on it. This is rather common behavior for a very stressed tang tho... Good luck and hope it pulls through!

Seriously? You don't think the ph of ro water without salt can be matched to ro water with salt?

Just wanted post a status update. In his new home eating like a pig. Healthy and happy.
