So I got this Blue Hippo Tang (Dori Fish) on Saturday, we acclimated him properly, as soon as he was released he hid in the rocks and played dead. It is now Tuesday, same thing. Occasionally he peeks his head out and dashes back in if he sees you. It's a little one, maybe one inch.

It's a 75gal tank with a Clarkii who never leaves it's anenome, and a black cucumber. No major predators.

Is this normal? I see that they are shy, but this is pretty extreme!

Completely normal for some. Wait till it starts attacking inanimate objects in the tank ;)

I have had 2. The first one was terrible. Hid if you got near the tank, attacked the powerheads/heater/filter intake/net/mag float, etc. Only time you would see it was during feeding.
On that note, the second one (the one I have now), is completely different. Spends a lot of time outside and is very peaceful.

Mine is so big that it breaks corals off their base. He always hides until he see's the food bowl.

Well I pretty much feel better now, yet this fish still hasn't come out at food time. There is a tiny bit of caulerpa in the tank which I think he's munching on when I'm not looking. dunno. Hope it starts coming out though.

mine has ONLY been eating the broccoli and seaweed strip I put in there... it's actually been taking some of the seaweed down to the snails at times.. it's kinda funny, my 8 year old keeps saying "Daddy, come look - Dori is feeding the snails" ........

If they have opposite body types (like your hippo with a yellow), you should be fine
