well i cant tell if this guys eating or not. they said he was eating ghost shrimp and guppies at the store but i actually havent seen him eat yet. i found on the internet some saltwater shrimp feeders they look just like the ghost shrimp but they are saltwater and are living in the tank pretty well. i cant tell if hes picking them off 1 by 1 here and there. i tried the guppies and he went berserk but i actually didnt see if he ate any (i hope so). is there anyway to tell if anyone knows? i keep trying with frozen foods the only thing he takes intersest in is silversides but he spits them out so ill keep trying with them. if there are any opinions or ideas im open to hear them. i know they arnt the esiest eel to keep i knew that going in but im determined on this guy. i found another article where these guys can go weeks without eating if
they decide to. im wondering if its gonna be a game of whos more stubborn me or him. wish me luck. im trying the live food approach, the food on a stick idea, i even tried garlic since that has given some fish the urge to eat. and im starting to try food at night with no lights since these guys are known to be nocturnal predators.

Collection practices of most ribbon eels is less then desireable. The use of cyanide just simply ruins there digestive tract. Some are noosed, but most are juiced, sorry.

i got an update on the ribbon i bought some flagfish off the internet they are like a saltwater bait fish. the eel is hunting i seen him one night going after the flag fish he missed a few but then got ahold of one he pulled it under the rock wrapped his body around it real tight. so he is hungry and hunting and eating im working on a digi camera prolly gotta borrow one to get some pics. no luck with frozen foods but he is likeing the live flag fish so cheers on that. i found a site that sells young live silversides since he shows an interest in frozen ones but not quite taking them i thought about ordering the live ones. maby i can get the transition from live silversides to frozen

I used to work in a pet store (regrettably) and we got ribbon eels every once in a great while. Believe it or not, we used to get them to eat by tong feeding them cubed Formula I by Ocean Nutrition. Can't tell you why but they almost always liked it.

It's a frozen food so I've never bought it on line. You can go to oceannutriton.com to see thier line of products.
