Thought I would share my new tank with you. I just upgraded my 65g to a 75g. I absolutely love the new tank dimensions and my fish seem much more active now that there is an extra foot of swimming space. I used all the same equipment from my 65g so the only thing new is the tank itself. I build the stand out of 2x4's and simply skinned it in 1/4" plywood and painted it black. I didnt want to spend the extra $$ on a reef ready tank, so I decided to drill the tank myself and go with a coast to coast overflow.

I was previously using the herbie style overflow on my 65g and loved how quiet it was, but I got sick and tired of adjusting the gate valve all the time. So on the new tank I decided to go with a modified bean animal. This is not a true bean animal because I only have 2 drains instead of 3, as I do not feel the 3rd emergency drain was necessary. After all, the herbie only uses two drains and it never failed me in the 3 years I used it. I also did not want to have to drill and plumb 3 holes. 2 holes was nerve wrecking enough to drill. I have only had the tank up and running for 3 days but I could not be any happier with the bean animal overflow. It is so easy to tune since the second drain handles the excess flow and it is perfectly quiet. I know most of you probably never saw my 65g so I'll list the equipment below.

-36" 6x39w ATI sunpower (only using 4 bulbs as 6 was bleaching my coral) with 2 coral plus and 2 blue plus (thanks john the combination is great)
-Koralia 3 powerhead (was using 2 on the 65 but only using 1 now due to the location of my return giving plenty of cross current flow)
    -20g long sump
    -ASM g2 protein skimmer
    -Custom built algae turf scrubber
-mag drive 9.5 (wayyyyyy to much flow so I throttle it back significantly)
    -finnex titanium heater
    -aqua euro chiller

    Livestock
yellow tang (he is loving the upgrade)
    5 blue/green chromis
    pair of O. Clowns
    firefish goby
yellow watchman goby (still afraid to come out of hiding)
    yellow clown goby
unidentified blenny (similar to a bicolor)

open to suggestions on any new fish. wife wants a mandarin ::)

As for my old 65g, Ill will be upgrading my 55 planted tank and putting 6 discus in there with a school of rummy nose tetra most likely

It seems like every tank I see online with an ATI T5 fixture ends up beautiful.

Great job! Love the aquascape and the nearly coast-coast overflow.

Looks good! I was told that it's better to place the powerheads on the lower portion of the tank, but have seen many pictures where it's up high. What's your opinion on that?
