Highly likely this would be the issue rather than updates. It would be highly unlikely if the network is this managed and IT security is months behind.

Also any antispyware? and MS maleware i assume

What AV do you run? Because BP checks with about 12 different AV prodivers about every 30mins to ensure all the hashs and defintions are up to date.

This isnt highly unlikely that is what this system is desgined to do ensure the most secuirty on a VPN connection if you will and if you have a P2P program then it would actually cause a issue because of the hardware rules that tells it to block connections on any incoming system that has and software like this. Also out of the box this piece of hardware is set up to auto update because manually updating for any project especially for AV you consume all of your time.

I said that it was highly unlikely that security is months behind. VPN has nothing to do with this guys question.

MSE...it checks for updated definitions, but does not allow the most recent versions of many AV software when it checks. For example, it won't allow the most recent version of Avira, AVG, or Avast. If your definitions are more than 2 weeks behind, it also will not allow you to log on.

This thing doesn't auto update. There's a reason the latest versions of most antivirus software doesn't work on the school's network. It's the whitelist, but likely not anything else with BlueProtect, that's wrong.

But this hardware auto updates so there shouldnt be a issue on the secuirty side but there is a max number of tokens at one time so it could be set to low.

You are right about the VPN sorry i thought it said he was connecting from home.

I have. They basically said "Only a couple people in the building can update it, but they just don't have it as a priority. Try and get more students to complain if you want it to happen.".
