I killed a good sized aptasia (injected with kalk paste), now 2 weeks later the rock it was on is covered in about a dozen or more small ones so I am going to boil the rock, its small enough. my question is how long after I boil it do I wait to put it back in the tank, I know it has to cool down but is there anything eles I should do?

you may want to rinse all the dead stuff off.

i dont see the difference, except wasting some water in one.

it will be dead so theres no point to the water

darn I guess I can't boil it, I have a colony of zoas (on a seperate rock) that were on top of it I went to move it and all the bottom polyps are connected to the rock I want to boil, so its back to the injection method.
    thanks for the help sostoudt.

I used boiling hot RO/DI water with a little bit of vinegar. I used an airline tube and syringe and blasted the foot with the water. The foot should release from the rock, then just net it out. The aipstasia shouldn't dissolve and spread this way.

What I have found over time is that tanks infested with aptasias are rich in excess nutrients and floating particulate matter for them to feed on like with bristle worms more food they have available to them the larger their numbers . I myself have never had any issues with them , I just last week got a hunk of Rock with a large montipora on it it has several aptasias on it and a few Button polyps on it and the Polyps are my main concern I can starve the anemones out the buttons may require me pulling the rock to kill them off ? You can get the water cleaned up add a few peppermints and or a Australian copper band to deal with the anemones ..

I know I only had 2 that I could see and one was a big one so I finally decided to kill it by injecting it with kalk paste all was good it seemed to die, then bam 2 weeks later they are all over the rock it was on. I would have rather had the big one then all these little ones. I have never had a problem with these until now. I do however have a lot of partials floating in the water lately as I have been removing the turf algea that has been dieing off finnally. and I have been blowing of the rocks with a turkey baster.
