Back to the 40 breeder that was setup May 5th, 2010. What began as brown algae 2 weeks ago, seems to have transitioned into longer red algae on the sand. I only find this algae in the front section of the tank. None at all in the rear. The lights are on from 10am-10pm. Is this usual and leave it alone, or should I look into doing something? I'll try posting some photos later.

From the vid provided, the algae looks like Cyano to me. Doesn't look like much. You could siphon that out with a water change. I would recomend cutting the lighting schedule back a couple of hours.

It was more on that side. The urchin just ran through it.

It's cyano. Siphon out what you are able to. Increase flow to the areas that are effected and try to get your excess nutrients down.

Guess I'll try turning my lights back 2 hours or so.

The answer to getting rid of red slime in Marine tanks is simple. Buy some MYCOSIDOL "COLOMBO CERPOPOR" off Ebay...and Goodbye Red Slime!!. I did two months ago. and its never come back...and if it does, I'll repeat the dose.

Cutting back lights, or syphoning out or increasing water flow doesn't really do the trick because he spores remain in the tank...but that product kills the spores and removes the slime. 100% guaranteed...and it does it fine !
