oooooh yeah. i actually got my LFS to replace their RO cartridges when i walked into their store with a test kit and a sample of their own water and had the owner give me a deer in a headlight look.... and then realized why HE was having his algae outbreaks.

this is when i did the math and figured out that id save money long term on my own RO unit that i maintain myself. that way if theres ever an issue im the only one to blame :)

Do you have it dialed back at all? I know that is what they recommend on their site, but I thought reactors were suppose to have low flow, like around 100 gph pending size/system? I was actually looking at the MJ400. I could be dead wrong here....

I don't dial back mine at all and the water flows through slowly. It's gotta have enough oomph to get through the reactor.

Yes, I do. Nearly all the way. They include a ball valve with the unit. They tell you to turn it back until the GFO is just barely tumbling on the surface; any more and they grind together, so you get fine particles of GFO in the tank. Any less, and the GFO will clump together.

I use the BRS Dual Reactor and I love it. I run carbon and GFO. Ever since adding this unit and a small ball of chaeto to my fuge, all types of algae are dramatically down. I feel the BRS unit was a great value for a great product.
