I have a Green BTA paired with a clown. He seems to be losing his color over the last week or so. Now he seems to be more of a tan color as opposed to the green. I can still see that some of his tentacles have some green in them but he is mostly brown. He seems to be otherwise healthy. Anyone think I should be worried?

    Thanks.

hmmmm, with thata odd, since the lighting should be ok, how long has ur tank been up, wat r the levels, and how did u acclimate it, anamones can be very sensitive about acclimation...also the water needs to be very good, i have one in 24 watts of good old nano cube power, it only is ok because my water is great....hope everything gets better

The tank has been up for about 4 months and the perameters are good. He has been in the tank for 3 weeks or so and seems healthy other than the color change. I wonder if his color was "enhanced" by the LFS or dealer. Hope not.

What color/temp lamps are you using? I believe ideally, they should be in the white to blue spectrum. If you are more toward the yellow, it may be a factor. Are you running actinics?

I have 50/50 PC. I also have a fairly blue MH. I think it is 12500. This has been a very recent change. Could it be the 50/50. Maybe I should turn it off. I also have a moonlight, but I heard that blue lights can be on constantly. Is this true only for actinics or are the LCD's ok also. Any other suggestions?

    Thanks.

The anemone is most likely fine. It's probably brown now because it has replenished the zooxanthellae that it most likely expelled during transport/acclimation. I wouldn't worry, just keep a close eye on it for a few weeks.

how long is your light cycle? do you feed it regularly? I find my guys will darken when the lights are on a more set schedule and i feed them regularly. The color will return with care and time...i have rehabed two totally white anemones, one bleached and lost its color (when i first purchased it over a year ago) because it was in a dealer tank (the store i was working in at the time) for a few weeks under pc's and i moved it to my tank (small nano-46 gallon) with an HQI 150watt and some 55watt actinic light.
It has since recovered, regained its brown then green color and is happily huge again.
I think feeding and nutrition are important.
(they are a little weird, i think there are alot of variables to keeping them anemones happy)
    Just my 2 cents....
