I bought this BTA about 3 weeks ago and it has been doing awesomely until yesterday. I got up in the morning and it looked like this. It's still alive but obviously not doing well, I don't know why. It was eating great, raw shrimp and brine shrimp it caught when I was feeding other corals, it moved itself around the tank several times and settled on this spot. I did a 25% water change yesterday hoping that would help since the phosphate level was 2. All other params were good, temp is 80, nothing else unusual. Are there any supplements I can add or anything I can do for it? I don't have a QT suitable for coral, not strong enough lighting.

I would remove the anemone as it looks very close to being dead, sorry.

What type of lighting do you have?
    Other tank inhabitants?
Please list all parameters, sg, pH........

    TIA

And again sorry about your anemone.

I have 4 VHO T5s that are on about 8-10 hrs a day. All params were perfect except phosphate, that was 2. calcium was 420, nitrate 0, nitrite 0, pH 8.0, sal 1.025, ammonia 0, temp 80... everything was perfect. it was doing well for a long time then suddenly looked like this yesterday. what could have caused it? it would shrink up and look shriveled and almost dead almost every day but once the lights went on it would open up and it was beautiful.

i have a powder blue tang, heralds angel, prawn goby, hermit crabs and turbo snails, an emerald crab and 2 ocellaris clowns that were intro'd yesterday as well. its beside some pulsating xenia, it was sitting between 2 stalks yesterday but they didnt seem to be fighting for room or bothering each other.

Strange, good parameters, the lighting sould be fine. The only 2 items that I can think of is that it got a bacterial infection within witch can happen if a piece of fish goes bad, this is the reason I do not feed silversides.

Or the angel or other fish or crab may be picking in it. But you would probably notice that and if the clowns are residing in the anemone.

So it just got up and startng moving around?

Yeah everything was fine, that's why I don't understand what happened.
It moved itself almost on a daily basis, usually it just turned away from the front of the tank. Nothing was picking on it as far as I know, I have more than enough other stuff for the angel and tang to pick at so they shouldn't be bothering an anemone. The clowns are new, they were added yesterday after I noticed the BTA looking like this. I was feeding raw shrimp and it was catching brine shrimp/mysis/spirulina that was meant for the fish and other corals.

A moving BTA is never a good sign. They should stay put for the most part except when cloning, or repostioning due to flow or lighting and that is not very often IME.

Interesting to see what others think.

It moved again last night, its now 3 or 4" lower in the tank and seems to be trying to rid a chunk of bad looking tissue. The bubble tips around the outside still look ok. Not sure if I should take it out and put it out of its misery or see if by some miracle it survives?

Keliz, sorry to hear about your loss. But maybe we can still figure out what happened here.

How big was the tank you had the nem' in?
How old was the tank you had the nem' in?
What is the flow/filtration like in your tank?
