I picked up a bubble coral today and it is on the bottom of my 55 gallon tank. I have a 6 bulb T-5 Lighting System. Where is the best place in the tank for this peice?
How far from other coral's should it be also?

    Thnx
    Danny

ive got mine at the top. its gone from tennis ball sized, to now football sized. will need to give it room to grow , plus the feeders. to start a couple inches of room and then watch it.

watch it at night and take a look at how long the tentacles are, that should give you an idea of how far it needs to be from other corals. I keep mine 1/2 way up the tank and in a moderately low flow area and its doing great.

Will it be okay on the bottom or not?

is this the same one that was rolling around your tank a while back? What ever happened to that one?

Can you see my bubble? It's under a 4 bulb T5 setup.

with your lights, yes. though I found my crabs leave it alone better if it's up on the structure. flow is important for these as the bubbles can tear in strong current.

mine is in a very low flow area also. just a very faint waft. i saw what happened to one that had higher flow , reduced to a skeleton.

The other one went under a rock to never be seen again....this one is about 4 inches long and has at least 3 heads. I dont know if the current is to strong but it is constantly moving to and fro with the water. It has its little tentacles out and they are able to stand up and still and still move around searching for food so I assume it is okay. It is good that it will survive on bottom. It is in front a photosynthetic Gorgonian that is about 12 inches tall with 15 branches...it is 2 tree's on one rock. It was white when I got it but is now turning a tannish golden color with tan tentacles...so any ways thnx for the info on the placement...if it looks bad I will move it up higher...

What would be a sign of to much movement?

    Hi Danny

I have a pearl bubble and a green bubble under 6 x T5s and both are on the rock but close to the bottom

    placement thoughts

as said they dont like to strong flow as this may tear at the expanded flesh
also they like to be able to expand clear of any surrounding rock, for same reason as above

so mine are on low flat peices of rock - just forward of the main reef structure
both towards one end of the tank where flow is gentler than it is nearer the middle

    Steve

sign of to much movement - I find if the bubbles ripple but maintain shape they are ok but if the bubble seem to have flat spots caused by water pushing them, thats to much flow
