my 58g i didn't put a bta in for nearly 4yrs but when i did good god did it explode with growth

my 24g a friend literally dumped one in my lap after my tank had been up about 2 months and it's doing great and recently split

I wouldn't recommend tossing a bta in a young tank but it is possible to nurse them along

Cool, my tank is young but things seem to be looking good. I mean provided I don't freak out every ten seconds on nothing. BTW my hammer head is about to split... so excited!

patience is king with these guys, they are constantly changing shapes and shriveling up and doing different things they don't always look the same and that non-consistency doesn't sit well with some people, but just be patient and ask questions if you think something isn't right

For what ever its worth I'd tell anyone to never add an anemone for at least a yr or even more .. And you are absolutely correct about a U/V total waste of money eve on a F/O tank to may variables involved to get them to do anything consistently hell I have never heard a true flow rate and that is their weak link unless you can get it through the unit and at a slow enough flow it will do nothing . To me its like catching the mouse then sticking is head in the trap to catch it :)

    "Roger" Roger...

But those anems are sooo pretty and a must if you have clowns.

Unfortunately most must learn hard way about adding to tank too soon.

If you do decide to get, have good lighting, get only from LFS that has had a while. So many injured in gathering and shipping.

Do not expect too much success unless tank at least a year old as Tangster states...

    :-/

Yea, I hear ya guys... my tank is sparce but I should've waited. If things get bad and I can't fix them then I'll take it back to the LFS and let them recover the poor thing until my tank is right for it. Don't have any friends with tanks so that's really my only shot for saving it in the event that things go downhill. I really appreciate all of the support. And you're right OmarD, sometimes we have to learn the hard way, but it shouldn't have to cost the life of an animal... I'm reminded of the kid who won't stop shaking the bag... I'll be back with questions if anything else seems out of the ordinary. Thanks again.

Our clowns prefer a Gigas clam and they spawned on it last week :) Free and natural food
