I have been having Micro Bubble trouble with my sump, which prompted me to do some more reading. It seems to be about 50/50 if bubble traps are really worth the space. Many people are saying just put an "over" divider between them and the bubbles will rise to the surface instead of being pushed through a bubble trap and sent into the return section.

    Looking for opinions...

Properly built traps do exactly that... trap bubbles and do not let them pass. 3 pane traps are the most effective. The wider they are the more effective they are. @ pane traps are less effective. If yo umust do 2 pane traps... you want the water to pass under first and over last.... that way it keeps most bubbles away from the return pump and straight to the DT.

Dividers are useless at stopping MB from skimmers. Sponges are just another thing to do maintenance on. You need bubble traps from the skimmer compartment... you can just use a divider from the fuge.

Running a Mag7 at 5' head, what distance would you space your baffles?

I also think i made the input/skimmer section too small and the return section too big.

Right now I am using a rubber-made container as a sump so I couldn't use baffles to make traps and stop bubbles so I employed a different technique recommended by a friend of mine. I used a bucket/garbage can and cut two holes at the bottom. The bucket needs to be tall enough to stick out of the water so the water is forced to go through the holes at the bottom. Also got to make sure the hole are pointed away from the return area. Has worked pretty good so far
