    how tall are 55g hoods normally?
    im drawing it up on paint with the dimentions and want to get it approved by all of u fist to make sure its all good!

    Mine Canopy is 8 inches, just measured it for ya!

    Ours is about 7.5 inches total...but only adds 6 inches to the overall height if that makes sense. Because the canopy will overlap over the tank somewhat. It all depends on what lighting you're puttin inside of it. Skinny lighting that's close to the water means you'll have a short canopy.

    Also, I'd give Google SketchUp a try if you have any 3D modeling experience. It's free and gives a much better, more detailed drawing of what you are trying to do. However, if you don't have experience with a CAD software it might be a tad irksome to learn to use.

    this is what i got so far... i was thinking about 8-8.5 inches tall.... i got a t5 light set up and its about 4.5 inches tall....

    You will have to put it in the google "3D warehouse". Go to SketchUp, then open whatever you're sending to Google, then go to "File" - "3D Warehouse" - and click "share model".

    If you haven't already, you'll need to set up an account for yourself. Then, all you have to do is post the link and people like me who have sketchup can download yours into ours and look at it from any angle. However, people who don't have sketchup can still look at it by clicking on the link and just going to "3D view" on the picture.
