I was wondering if i'm doing something wrong here...:confused:

I started dosing with E.S.V. B-Ionic 2 part (alk and cal) about a month ago and my calc is still pretty low, along with my mag...whats going on? Here are my parameters...and I did a water change a week ago, tested afterward and still the same readings..Nothing changes, same numbers everytime

I used to dose 7.5mL a day of each, then upped it to 12mL, now i'm dosing 20mL...I know i can dose 1mL per gallon MAX...but what's going on?

    pH-8.4
    alk-11 dKH
    calc-340<--
    mag-1040<--
*don't know if these are applicable*
    ammonia-0
    nitrite-0
    nitrate-0
    temp-80F
    salinity-1.024

My coral (just one) looks like blah and It worries me. haha, I don't know whats going on!! That's all I dose with too!!
any input would be greatly appreciated!!!;D

Mag will directly affect the calcium. When you get the mag up the calcion will follow suit eventually. If you are not dosing mag then there will be nothing to bring it up to the proper level. I use a tablespoon of epsom salts about every ten days and my level stays around 1450 ppm.

    makes sense...

so once the mag gets up to par, everything else will follow suit...will my alk change at all? It is kind of where i'd like it.

correct. Once you raise the mag the cal will follow suit. They are directly related. Alk will stay the same.

Monitor your alk real often. A large swing in that can be deadly. Calc and mag swings are not that bad. After you start seeing your calc climb your alk could start changing. Once you get your calc to the level it should be at you should start to be able to dose equal amounts of calc and alk and keep that constant. At first you may have a slighty larger amount of calc but it should even out with time.

I have been dosing 2 part for a couple of years and have not made a significate adjustment in at least a couple of months now that it is stable.

It does seem like a large amount of dosing for a tank that size. How much hard corals do you have?
Also how are you measuring PH? If your kit is off you could be even higher than 8.4 which could cause some of these problems.

Look up some of Randy Holmes Farleys articles on reef chemistry. He writes very good information on the relationship of all of these items.
