great, it will be possible to get some for a decent shipping price but they are not set to ship in canada yet. I'll have to wait until march.

There is no corals in that tank for the moment so I gess it's ok to wait a little.

If it get to long before I get it, what marcket products do you prefer the most? maybe an all in one product that have mg, Ca and kh would be great?

    thx

Er as long as you check the PH

    HI,
I read that article about making that kalkwasser and it looks great, my only concern was keeping the ph around 8.4 any drop and any phos trapped in the calcium carbonate may get released.
Other than its a the perfect solution,

I use dowflake and baked baking soda just like our twopart solution sponsors recomend it. It works great, but yes, you have to search for it if you live in canada!!

A high alkalinity level will maintain a high pH! If you add Kalkwasser during the day, your pH will go up so you need not worry about pH going to low. The problem for you may be that your pH will go to high by dosing Kalkwasser!. If this happens, dose Kalk at night when photosynthesis isn't taking place and CO2 is increasing or try adding acetic acid(vinegar) to your water to lower your pH level in your tank!

    one last note

    HI,
I am having a problem with the units, most of the equipment I run is in mg/dL, I ve checked some medical reference and they said 10 mg/dL equals 100 mg/L . that makes sense to me another refernce says 100 mg/L equals 100ppm . That to makes sense now heres my problem I am having a hard time keeping the ca++ in solution my last reading was at 23.8mg/dL or 238mg/L considering the amount of calcium I have addded it must be preciping out as dust or snow , I do see some powder here and there, how low can I send the PH down safely to increase the calcium and prevent precip and not shock the fish, I believe my last PH was 8.4.
    Hope this makes sense.
    Doug

At a mixture that weak you may as well not mess with the Lime water. At just 1 teaspoon to 2 gallons is not a very strong mixture I'd at least mix 2 tablespoons to a gallon as a minimum starting point. I myself pump as much in as the freshwater will hold in solution and still need to use Ca. supplement.
