Ive personally never done it but I have a friend who does it and works fine. But do some research because I think that dowflakes was not safe to use anymore, or it was going to be unsafe.

Yeah, I am not comfortable using a commercial product not designed specifically for marine aquariums....I was just curious...Thanks, IBM....::)

Just make sure that the dowflakes you get is good. Even though its not meant for the aquarium business it works, and its way cheaper than b-ionic and similar products.Often many things in this hobby dont neccesarily have to be built for the aquarium trade such as using baking soda for raising ph or using ge silicone for doing tanks etc...

I use a calcium reactor. Expensive to start but almost nothing to do afterwards so in the long run maybe cheaper.

I also use two part solution...why pay 20 dollars for a 16 oz bottle of miricle cure when you can buy it in bulk for less money....I would almost bet my paycheck that all this crap you buy at a LFS is just a glorified bottle of good old arm and hammer baking soda....I'll use my money elsewhere than in 200 dollars a month in chemical.

I just finished my last bottle of B-ionic calcuim/Alk two part system. I believe it works, but in my case, Im not going to buy it anymore b/c I only need the cal. part and not the alk. my alk is always at a good level.
