Today the power went out for about 10 mins then when it came back on my return pump didn't come on, so I took it out of the sump and come to find out every thing in the sump is covered in a hard shell of calcuim. I have been dosing about 1/2 gallon a night of kalkwasser. I let it sit for about 6 hours before doseing on a drip. I have only been doesing the kalk for about a month now is this normal to have this kind of build up in a month?

I know nothing on this subject.... But i would say 1/2 gallon every night is WAY to much

Get some vinegar I use the CRS or limeaway scale stuff myself soak the pump to free it up then plug it in and allow it to run a hour or so then take totally take it apart to check out and rinse . No you levels are to high DKH may be causing it , Properly dosing kalk is a tricky deal to no when and how much

Should I raise my dkh? it is around 2.8 and my cal is 480.
I do dose soduim carbonate to bring my alk up to around 3.
I lose about 6 to 8 gallons a week from evap.
in about 2 weeks my cal drops by 50 ppm. my ph during the day stays at 8.2.
also my mag is at 1400

I run my dkh at 15 or about 5.50 Mgl and calcium at close to 450 to 500 all the time . With dosing Kalk how are you mixing it ? and It sounds to me like maybe some slurry is getting into the tank never use that just the pure clear water from above and never reuse the old sediment in the bottom always toss that .. Its just calcium carbonates and that's what is clogging your pumps a hard white crust lining everything . But at 2.8 you are low on Carbonates sodium carbonate alone is not a real buffer mix the baking soda with 1 part boraxo laundry boosted its simply pure borate and that will increase the levels and make them far more stable unlike the baking soda the sodium part is actually acidic and once the carbonates are exhausted it can pull the Ph down..

Ahh that makes sense,5.5 wow my test kit doesn't go up that high. I just picked up some Kent supper buffer DKH so I thought I would start to give that a try.
When I mix the kalk I put in a tablespoon to a half gallon then pour in my ro/di water stir it gently then cap it, I usually let it sit for about 4 hours, when I put my line in about an inch above the bottom. I rinse it out every use.
