Can fish sneeze?

hi

its literally just happened lol i was laying in bed watching a movie when i heard a loud snapping noise from the tank i looked thinking the worse and i saw my regal tang swimming around the middle of the tank making this noise and jolting like it was a sneeze

is this possible or should i be worryed about something worse. everything is the way it should be so ...

any ideas welcome

No, they don't sneeze. But there is something they do on occasion that might look like a sneeze. Sometimes if they get a bite of food they don't care for and/or if they took in too big of a bite, they can look like they "chew" for a second or two, then they will blow it back out of their mouth. So long as they are eating well and other wise healthy, it's nothing to be concerned about. Is that what you needed? Patricia

i just found out what it was it is the regal tang but what i hadn't noticed the last time he/she did it was what she was doing i had put in (as i dont have a sump yet) a small backup heater ready for winter time incase the main one breaks as it was only a cheep one if you bang against it is makes a sound like a sneeze as the inside move around she was hitting it with her tail which makes seance for her jolting when you hear the noise

i thought i would ask in-case it was something very serious just to make sure lol
