Just bout a 100g tall tank and the seller gave me the rock with the tank. The thing is.....it was a fresh water tank. Can I add the fresh water rock to my salt water tank?

I wouldn't! You don't know what he used in the tank! Copper! Etc! You're adding an unknown that could bite ya!

In terms of copper you would be chancing it. The rock acts like a sponge and soaks up copper, as does silicone in the tank. If copper has been used it is very difficult to get rid of and could potentially leak back into the tank. If you are doing a fowlr you might be fine, but corals and inverts may be affected by this.

I would recommend buying already live rock because it would help your tank cycle instead of rock that isnt live and can pose a hazard to your tank. Plus its kinda fun to see hitchikers on your rock which might give you sum free hermit crabs and snails.

If you can afford to fill a tank with all live rock thats the way to go probably. Personally I just seed base rock with a very small amount of live rock.

i serously doubt that he used any chemicals such as copper in the tank. He provided me with everything that he had including all chems etc.... This will start as a FOWLR and eventually go to reef after a 6 months or so.

Copper is VERY common especially in a freshwater tank. Almost all diseases such as ich are treated with copper. We are giving you our advice which you asked for, you can follow it or not. I can assure you most people are going to tell you something similar.

Also, do you know what type of rock? While you may get away with certain quarried terrestrial types, your safest option for SW is calcium-based reef rock. It will also be far more porous, thus providing a much better bio-filter.
