Can you do this??

Can you start the cycle of a new tank with a freshwater feeder minnow(rosey red)?? I know it will kill the fish quickly,but will it kick off the bacteria cycle if i leave him in there to rot for a week or so??

 

no reason why it shouldnt work the same as raw shrimp, give you something to look at for a bit. lol

 

anything that will rot and give off ammonia. i would recommend putting it in a cheap container and poking it full of little holes....it makes it easier to remove from the tank as the fish will be rotting away.

 

I know it sounds cruel,but if i don't kill him in saltwater,he'll just be lunch for my piranha!!;D

 

lol. can just let him rot. gives the bacteria something to feed on.

 

Acclimate a molly to saltwater.

Well then here officially starts off my new 15 gallon setup as some of you guys know i've been tankless for a couple months It might be small but so much better than none at all!!Thanks for the quick replies

Yeah,I kept a black molly in my 55 for quite some time and he was just as happy as in freshwater.;D Guppies i believe can handle saltwater as well.

 

Just putting it all together now,But i hear ya Divott!! they'll be up in the next day or so.LOL!
