Go ahead mrs mulders. Tell everyone what you have been dosing to get your coralline. People tend to have such a hard time with it. I really think they are over thinking the process.

lol nothing. that's the whole point. Just water changes with plain ol' instant ocean salt. My point is, is I see all these threads asking how to get it. People tend to overthink this thing.

I just wanted to get this thread going to maybe shine some light on the subject. It seems to be a fairly hot topic and I wanted people to know that this is so simple that a person with 6 weeks experience can accomplish this with NO effort.

Yup, I never used a single addditive in my tank and the Coralline grows like crazy, I have about 30lbs of Live Rock that used to be in my 29gall that eventually I tore down. Rocks were all sun dried and 3 years later I was ready to use this very very WHITE and very dead rock . Today I would say 80% of these rocks are now corraline covered. 2 of them even have a huge yellow sponge colony growing on it, that must have come from one of the newer rocks I put in the tank.

And only running 260watt PC's on my 110 gall. No Corals. Lights run 5 hours a day during the week and 7-8 hours on the weekend.

yeah makes sense. Coralline tends to like lower light. Pc's tend to grow it better than intense mh. Actinics only grow it even better.

Well I find if the tank is seeded and just given actinic and no skimming then it just takes off . Thats why I cycle my systems slow and use no L/R or sand and never worry about testing for ammonia N02 and or No3 just the Ca Dkh and mag . Seed no skimmer and all actinic lighting and in about 3 months I have it going crazy then I add my animals other then the cycling fish . then at 4 or 6 months I start the skimmer up. But Thats just me , I have never not had tons of the stuff though. Until I see coraline growth the tank gets nothing else added .

sounds like a good plan bro and obviously you do something right. Like said before, this tank is a month and a half old and although I wouldn't say it's going crazy yet, it is starting to really cover the locline in the tank and dotting the back wall.
