ive been using chemi-pure in my system . lfs store price 18.00 for 10 oz's. a friend was at walmart and they carry the aqua-tech activated carbon , 4.00 for 14 oz's. has anybody used this? reason im asking this is because im a "get what you pay for" type. but if it works just as well, i dont mind saving 14.00 a month. im not cheap but frugal never bothers me. lol. thnx for any opinions.

Not all carbon is created equal. I don't know who Aqua-Tech buys their carbon from so I can't say anything with any certainty. I did note that their web page shows it for use in freshwater, cichlids, and goldfish but no saltwater.

Here is a link that I posted on another carbon post which tests were done and tells which type of carbon is best so maybe you can read the product info and the article and determine if it's worth using.HTH.
