Carbon versus anenome

I have a Green BTA for about 6 months. The first four months it did great and was about 3 inches long. I had to swtich tanks and did so about 2 months ago. The lighting on my new aquarium is much better however the anenome seems to be shrunken all the time to about an inch long. The only difference between the aquariums would have been that Im using Fluval Carbon in the new one. Could the carbon be the cause of the shrunken anenome, could the better light be the reason for a shrunken anenome.

My guess would not be the carbon. I would lean on the lights being more intense and it needing to adjust to them.

 

when the anemone was in the other tank under less intense light did it move around a lot? My guess would be the anemone is now getting better lighting so it doesnt have to expand as much to try to get all the possible light it has available. So since you have more intense light it can stay smaller and absorb just as much or more light than in the previous tank.

 

the four months that it was in the 29g biocube with 1 12'' double CF actinic and 1 12" double CF 10000k, it had never moved from the rock that it originally moved to.
When i moved it into the new tank with the new T5's, it moved the one night to that same rock and hasnt moved yet, but has only gotten smaller and smaller.

It's gonna grow faster now.

What you had before was a small anemone in "survival mode". Now it's a small anemone again but it has what it needs to grow properly.

I used to do this all the time when I wanted to frag mushroom anemones. Two weeks before I was going to frag them, I moved them into a low light tank. Their "caps" got much bigger and they would stretch their feet up to get closer to the light. Not only did this make harvesting them easier, it also made fragging them easier.

 

You need to find out if your anenome is from shallow or deep waters. It makes a big difference in know what's goin on...
