who here is running carbon in their tank and where are you running it from?

the reason i ask is that i have a fluval with carbon in it. but i would like to stop using the fluval and maybe put the carbon bag in the sump.

I use my fuval for that reason only to run carbon or other media.I don't even use the sponges for it or the bio stuff. just make sure you keep the media clean because it will get allot of buildup on it thus becoming a nitrate factory. The problem with putting it in the sump is the water is not forced thru the carbon where in the fuval it is.

I actually have a dual carbon and ferric oxide reactor for phosphate. Works great.

Hi, I have Chemi-pure Elite in the sump in the middle chamber with the skimmer. I feel there is enough flow to accomplish it's purpose.

I started running it a few weeks ago. It does clear the water a little. It's especially noticeable during a water change when a 5 gal bucket full of tank water is sitting next to a 5 gal bucket full of new water. Without the carbon the old water was noticeably darker. Still darker with the carbon but not very much.

Mine is sitting in a sock in my HOB skimmer box. I figured I'd get the most flow that way.
