Is it a bad thing to have carbon in your marine tank? I have a little ten gallon mantis nano and have just put prob a half cup to cup of carbon hanging on the back. Now that i'm doing research on it i'm not sure if this is such a good idea. Suggestions/comments?

Yes, carbon is safe to run in a marine tank- and also beneficial.

Carbon does wonders for making the water crystal clear and removing orders.

OK. And is there a "too much" policy on it? I have prob a cup in my ten gallon nano. Maybe a little less.

Maybe next time read up on it before tossing it in your tank? There should be directions on the container.

I run carbon 24/7 on my reef tank and wouldn't do without ;)
The amount used should be outlined in the filter/reactor instructions. What are you running it in?

The directions said just put some in a filter sock on put in the tank. Didn't have an amount of carbon per gallon ratio anywhere on it.

I run carbon and I can definitely tell a difference when it needs to be changed, so I can tell you it works great!! Mine is in my canister filter that I run, not sure it is going to do too much good just hanging in your tank and not having the water pass through it.....hhmmmm.

Carbon really helps keep the water crystal clear. It's awesome! I don't think you can use too much...
